Chapter Eight

Clarisse knew she couldn’t wait all night to do what she had to do. Plus she knew she’d need at least enough pee in her to do both tests. Right now, she had to go pretty darn bad.

Add to that the worry Sully might opt to rig her instead of Mac for the contest, and there would go her chance.

She grabbed her bag and snagged Abbey during a lull in the congratulations, pulling her into the master bedroom and closing the door behind them.

“I need your help,” Clarisse admitted, forcing herself not to burst into tears.

Abbey frowned. “Sweetie, what’s wrong?”

Well, theoretically, Clarisse wanted as many of her friends around her as she could get. Practically, that would be impossible. For starters, the men of the party would notice if nearly all the women there suddenly disappeared into the master bedroom.

Then there was the fact that a couple of them were already in the process of being rigged. Leah was actually rigging Seth, so she wouldn’t be able to join them, either.

“Please, I can’t explain, and Mac and Sully can’t know yet. Can you grab Tilly and maybe Loren and Essie? Bring them in here? Only if they can get away without any of the guys noticing.”

“Sure, but—”

“Please?”

Abbey rested her hands on Clarisse’s shoulders. “Talk to me. You’re scaring me.”

Clarisse couldn’t say it. She opted to dig into her purse and hand one of the sealed test kits and the instruction sheet to her.

Abbey had to turn the instructions around to read them…

Then realization dawned.

“I’m scared,” Clarisse said. “And I really need at least a couple of you guys with me when I do this.”

“But what about Mac and Sully?”

“I’ll explain after. Please?”

Abbey nodded and handed them back to her. “I’ll be right back.” Abbey hugged Clarisse, kissing her on the forehead before hurrying out, shutting the door behind her.

As Clarisse sank to the bed, the full realization of what she was about to do hit her.

Worse, the circumstances around it.

She’d deliberately concealed something pretty damn big from her men, something they’d already told her was her decision to make. She’d had no reason to hide it, and now she was probably going to make it worse.

Since she’d come this far, at least she wanted to know the full extent of how badly she’d fucked up before admitting it to her guys.

Abbey returned a couple of minutes later with Tilly and Loren. Abbey locked the bedroom door behind her while Loren muttered and tried to shut off the glowing hearts hanging from her nipple rings. It took her a couple of attempts and getting them through the various flashing sequences before she found the off setting.

“I hate these damn things,” Loren groused. “I feel like a derpy dog. I can see I’m going to have to readjust my hard limits with Ross.”

Tilly wore an expression of all business. “Honey, what’s going on?” she asked Clarisse. “Abbey said you needed us.”

She’d dug the other test kit out of her bag. She held up the two sealed pouches and the instructions.
